Arthroscopy
The Arthroscopy procedure at Park Hospitals is performed to diagnose and treat problems affecting the joints through minimally invasive surgical techniques. Commonly used for conditions involving the knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, wrist, or hip joints, arthroscopy allows orthopedic surgeons to examine damaged structures within the joint using a small camera called an arthroscope. The procedure is often recommended for patients experiencing joint pain, swelling, stiffness, ligament injuries, cartilage damage, or restricted movement that does not improve with medication or physiotherapy.
Before recommending arthroscopy, orthopedic specialists conduct detailed clinical evaluations along with imaging tests such as X-rays, MRI scans, and physical examinations to assess the condition of the joint. Symptoms such as persistent pain, instability, locking of the joint, inflammation, sports injuries, or reduced range of motion are carefully evaluated to determine whether minimally invasive surgical treatment is required. The procedure is planned according to the affected joint, severity of damage, and the patient’s overall mobility goals.
During the procedure, small incisions are made around the affected joint to insert the arthroscope and specialized surgical instruments. The tiny camera attached to the arthroscope provides a clear internal view of the joint on a monitor, allowing surgeons to identify and treat damaged tissues with precision. Depending on the condition, the procedure may involve repairing torn ligaments, removing damaged cartilage, treating inflamed tissue, or correcting structural abnormalities within the joint. Since the surgery is minimally invasive, there is less disruption to surrounding tissues compared to traditional open surgery techniques.
One of the major advantages of arthroscopy is reduced pain, minimal scarring, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery. Patients generally experience improved joint function, better mobility, and quicker return to daily activities and sports rehabilitation after the procedure. Early physiotherapy and guided rehabilitation also play an important role in restoring strength, flexibility, and long-term joint stability following surgery.
With advanced orthopedic technology, experienced surgeons, and personalized rehabilitation support, Park Hospitals provides comprehensive care for patients undergoing arthroscopic treatment. Timely diagnosis and minimally invasive intervention can help improve joint function, relieve discomfort, and support long-term mobility and quality of life.
