Monkeypox Symptoms and Signs

Symptoms may not begin to appear for many days to several weeks after exposure. Monkeypox has flu-like symptoms in the early stages.

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Pain is felt in a limb
  • Fatigue

Monkeypox Treatment

Although there is no treatment evolved to cure these diseases, however, there are ways to control monkeypox infection:

  • Analgesics and fever-reducing medications. There are anti-inflammatory medications that can help you feel better. Ibuprofen (Advil), Motrin, and Tylenol all fall into this category.

  • Anyone affected should be kept away from others.

  • Cover a single lesion or a small area with a bandage. Limit the spread to others and the environment by using gauze or bandages.

  • Rest at home and avoid contact with others when you're unwell. 

  • Use a mask to protect your face and drink lots of fluids.

It is spread when you contact an infected animal or person; you can contract monkeypox. Animal-to-human transmission occurs when an infected animal's blood, body fluids, or pox lesions touch a person's skin (sores).
